Orphans Free Education Program
WHO WE ARE
We are a home for orphans and abandoned children in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa. Since 2010, we provide education, housing, clothing, food and health care to 1100 children living in one of the most dangerous and poorest country in the world. Orphaned by war and poverty, we believe that education is the best hope to escape the strong grip of poverty.
We believe every child deserves a chance to an education and it's our passion to see children and the communities we support empowered and have their potentials unlocked through our work. While there is always more that can be done to help the disadvantaged communities in Uvira/DRC, there’s no doubt that we are making a significant impact. We are working hard on two fronts.
Firstly, we are planning for longer term, larger projects to ensure we are part of building a better future for the people of Uvira. Our main goal is to provide free education, which will help orphans and abandoned children escape the poverty into which they have been born.
Secondly, we aim to address immediate needs. This means making sure the people who most require our support, get the help they need, when they need it. Examples of what we currently do includes; providing food for families, providing clothing, and making improvements to the local area.
We are currently doing site surveys on a few locations in Kavinvira where we plan on building a clinic and setting up an agricultural farm for food production. We believe that Uvira is geographically in the perfect location for a climate utopia that’s perfect for agriculture.
We see the production of food like maize, cassava, sweet potatoes and much more as a means of helping the school become a self-sustaining, self-scaling and integrated development model to alleviate extreme poverty within the community.
